A confession is a formal statement in which an individual admits to committing a crime or wrongdoing. In the legal context, a confession can be made to law enforcement, in court, or to a judge. The confession must be voluntary and made without coercion or duress. Once a confession is made, it can be used as evidence in a criminal trial to establish the defendant's guilt. However, the confession must be corroborated by other evidence to ensure its reliability. **

Protestants do not have the practice of confession as it is not a sacrament in their tradition. Protestants believe in the direct relationship between the individual and God, and they can confess their sins directly to God without the need for a priest as an intermediary. They emphasize personal repentance, prayer, and seeking forgiveness from God rather than through the sacrament of confession. Protestants also prioritize the authority of the Bible over the authority of the church hierarchy in matters of faith and practice. **

A confession typically begins with the individual admitting to a wrongdoing or a crime. This admission is usually made to a person of authority, such as a police officer or a judge. The individual may be asked to provide details about the offense and may be given the opportunity to explain their actions. The confession may then be documented and used as evidence in legal proceedings. **
